Words Can Heal

I’ve always believed that writing could heal our wounded souls. Now there’s evidence that this may be an actual fact. And not just our emotional and our spiritual selves, but writing can heal our physical bodies as well.

The Journal of the American Medical Association recently published a clinical study showing that writing can have a big impact on physical symptoms.  They found that patients who spent just 20 minutes a day for three days in a row writing about their problems felt better, took fewer drugs to relieve their symptoms and saw their doctors less often. Just Who Do You Think You Are?

There’s a reason the most dreaded interview question is
“Tell me about yourself?”
It’s the nagging feeling that,
despite all the self-help books out there,
we just don’t know as much as we could
about someone so close to home as ourselves.

Because of my work as a speaker and a teacher, I often receive grand introductions. I get to stand in front of people and have someone read out loud about the best of who I am, my accomplishments, my aspirations, and what I have to offer of value. I am always humbled by these beautiful introductions, even though 9 times out of 10, I write them. (more…)
