One Year Later…

As of December, 2013, we’ve been living off and on the road ~ traveling the US and into Canada ~ with everything we need in the back of our Nissan Murano ~ for an entire year. Can you imagine?  (Check our map out below.  Forgive me if the geography isn’t quite right but you’ll get the picture.)

Back On the Road

After six weeks of sitting still and being quiet in our sweet little Spanish casa in San Luis Obispo, we are finally back out on the highway again.     We’ve gone from SLO living to life on the run.  And we have run into some of the most wonderful places, people, and experiences.

How Did We End Up Here?

If you had asked us last year, “Where do you think you’ll be next year?”, never ~ not in our wildest imaginations ~ would we have predicted where we are now.   We certainly had no idea we’d be in “the happiest place in the entire US” ~ and no, it’s not Disney World or Las Vegas ~ it’s San Luis Obispo, or SLO, as the locals call it. Ever Wake Up and Not Know Where You Are?

It finally happened.   After all this traveling, I woke up this morning and had no idea where we were.

More specifically, I didn’t know where the bathroom was. And you know this is important. As we age, going to the bathroom, in the dark, in the middle of the night, is a standard practice that happens at least a couple of times per night. At home,  we unconsciously get up and go on automatic pilot. We don’t even need the lights. We know where we are.

But this morning, not only did I not know where the bathroom was, I also didn’t know what state we were in. Of course, it was only for a split second, but in that split second, I had no idea where I was… (more…)
